Welcome to Tok Janggut Cafe, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Chung Lin Park, Kuching. This delightful restaurant offers a flavorful journey into the rich tapestry of Malay cuisine, presenting dishes that tantalize both the palate and the soul.

The moment you step inside, you're greeted by a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere, perfect for casual dining with family or a quick bite during your lunch break. The air-conditioned space invites you to unwind as the aromatic spices waft through the room, hinting at the culinary delights that await.

When it comes to the menu, the star attractions are undoubtedly the Bryani dishes. Diners rave about the Lamb Bryani, which has been heralded as one of the best in Kuching—rich, savory, and aromatic, each bite is a heavenly experience. If you prefer something sweeter, the Bryani Ayam Madu (Honey Chicken Bryani) offers a delightful contrast with its subtly sweet undertones. Both dishes are hearty and generously portioned, ensuring a satisfying meal that leaves you craving more.

For those looking to enjoy something different, the Roti Jantan is another crowd-pleaser, although one diner wished for half-cooked eggs to elevate the experience. Regardless, the feedback remains largely positive here, emphasizing the delightful spices that permeate the chicken, which is noted for its tenderness and juiciness. Fast service makes it easy to indulge, although some diners feel that the prices lean towards the higher end—perfect for a special treat but perhaps not for every day.

Regular visitors appreciate the generous portion sizes, particularly the chicken and lamb offerings, which are described as 'too generous'—definitely a plus for those with hearty appetites. Be sure to visit on Fridays to enjoy their special menu, which adds an extra layer of excitement to your dining experience.

However, not every feedback is glowing; one customer found the Bryani daging to be ordinary, highlighting that while the environment is clean and well-maintained, the flavors may vary. Striking a balance between the high notes and the occasional misses, the consensus remains that Tok Janggut Cafe captures the essence of Malay cuisine while providing a welcoming dining experience.

Make sure to visit during off-peak hours to avoid the lunchtime rush, and immerse yourself in the vibrant flavors of Kuching. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Tok Janggut Cafe is a must-try dining destination that promises to indulge your senses.

The Lamb Bryani is one of the best Malay bryani in Kuching. The Bryani Ayam Madu (Honey Chicken Bryani) is pretty good too. Crowded during lunch hour. Better to go at off peak hours.

Roti Jantan was good but was hoping for 1/2 cooked eggs instead of cooked eggs.

Chicken was tender and juicy, and got tastes of the spices. The rice portion was ok and got taste of briyani spices. Service was fast as well. The only downside was the price... bit expensive for me tho. Will come here again? Yes, but not often ....maybe once a month or two.

I had bryani daging on my first trip to this cafe. There are bryani ikan tenggiri, kambing and variety choices of ayam. To be honest, the bryani is ordinary. The dining area is air conditioned and clean. service was quick.
